I was born and raised in Saranac Lake, a small town in the Adirondack Mountains of upstate New York. In my free time, I enjoy spending time in the outdoors, particularly hiking and running; in the winter, I can often be found Nordic skiing. My rural upbringing instilled in me an appreciation for nature and the environment, which contributes to my interest in the research projects at CEHS.
While I have long been interested in science, I was largely undecided in my professional plans until recently; my current career goals include practicing as a medical doctor, but I have yet to choose a more specific path. I am very interested in exploring the various occupations in the field of research this summer, which will show me a different side of medicine. This experience will likely serve to help me further determine my professional interests and define my career path. This is my first research experience, and I am eager to learn more about the field.
I am excited and honored to have the opportunity to learn from and work with the exceptional scientists at CEHS, including my mentor Chris Migliaccio. The SURP program offers a truly unique opportunity to become integrated into a professional research laboratory for the summer, and also allows students to experience the beauty of Montana outside of the lab.
